"The Sunbather" was inspired by a trip that I took to a museum where I found a black and white photo of a line of young boys of various heights in a pool shower. Their backs were to the camera and the photographer had chosen to focus on the area from their waists to their feet. I believe the photo was titled "The Sunbathers."
I found the image quite beautiful in its attention to the human form.
Of course, because of who I am I started wondering what it would be like to express similarly my appreciation to the female body of color.
"The Sunbather" is what emerged.
