
"African Son" came to me while I was on a lone "discover Haiti" trip a few years ago. I spent a few days in the beautiful seaside town of Jacmel, staying in an old gingerbread mansion-turned-hotel. One night, as I drifted off to sleep, I half-opened my heavy eyes to make out these shapes across the room. Fortunately, I bring some art supplies with me wherever I go. "African Son" made his way into the world a few days later.
