Driving while Black is inspired by a 2010 quote from Joyce Gooch Granger that I encountered during my trip to the Smithsonian Museum of African American Culture and History:
"I learned to drive at nine...I was driving grain trucks...a tractor, the melon wagon, while they picked up the melons and tossed them and I also caught melons and tossed them...I've also driven the mules and the wagons."
How brilliant is that??!!
